Global Financial Firm located in New York, NY has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Project Analyst.



DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Operations Performance Measurement & Analysis team is a newly formed global function, created to provide senior management as well as line managers with operational Business Intelligence on performance, exposure and productivity across all product groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The recently launched Mapping & Measurement project has been chartered to produce a clear understanding of how the people, costs, volumes, etc align to the activities for the major product areas and physical operations locations. These outputs will create a clearer understanding of business activities, costs, efficiencies, etc. that are important to managements ongoing operation of the business.

The successful applicant will be join this project team and be tasked with the following:

* Work as part of a team primarily in NY/US, also interacting with other team members and players in London/EMEA, and APAC ( Singapore or Hong Kong )
* Interact with various professionals in areas such as Middle Office, Operations, Trading Desks, Finance, etc to understand and document key front-to-back process flows, business activities, and performance metrics
* Document these metrics and process flows in tools such as Visio, Excel, and Word
* Be an active participant in team meetings, explaining findings in the field and generating ideas to improve the teams work and working approach
* Be flexible and responsive to team needs candidate should be willing and able to conduct analysis of several different types of work: process flow documentation, identification and capture of key performance metrics related to process flows, refining definitions of activities, outputs, systems, and external linkages which are part of the process flows for individual product areas.
* Conduct interviews as part of the above analysis activities and document interview notes in a timely fashion
* Be prepared, as this project nears completion, to evolve into a Phase 2 project role focused on Activity Based Costing (ABC) design and implementation planning

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this contractor role is a self starter and effective team player who will develop an understanding of current processes, who works effectively in a global team, possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills and can handle multiple tasks over the course of the project, changing priorities and tight deadlines.



Candidate should be able to work with a moderate amount of regular supervision and support, and should know when to proactively seek out guidance and assistance from team/project leadership. She/he should also have the following:
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Experience working with capital markets products and related services (eg, knowledge of fixed income and equity products/trade life-cycle)
* Quickly grasp and master new requirements and related knowledge
* Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio are essential
* Activity-based costing experience highly desirable, but not required, reconciliations experience helpful as well --See job description--
