1,776 cc horizontally opposed overhead valve Bergmann Performance four-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 94.5".The standard 1,500cc was upgraded to a detailed and blueprinted 1,776cc Bergmann Performance engine with hydraulic lifters, a Bosch alternator, a Bosch 0.009 distributor, and Weber progressive carburetor. Bergmann 69mm counterweighted crank. Balanced VW rods. Stainless steel 40mm x 35.5mm valves. To cope with the increased power, a heavy duty 1700 lb. Kennedy clutch was installed, the transaxle was rebuilt and strengthened, and shifting was improved by a Gene Berg shifter. Billet aluminum accessories, were added, as was Thunderbird headers with dual Q-P mufflers. The entire suspension was rebuilt, calibrated and adjusted for optimal handling, which is further enhanced by a set of polished Empi wheels and radial tires.
