Hello,
I am currently seeking a small apt for myself and my two small children (ages 5 and 6 months). We are currently living in an illegal apt which, at the time of my rental, was approved by the welfare and the city. I have been trying to move but I find it hard to find anyone who will accept my rent subsidy which is called HSP. It seems that it was discontinued or re-named, but they still continue to pay the $810.00 portion of my rent. The apt in which I am currently living (a one room studio) has a perpetually backed up sink which backs up into the bathroom sink. I have to wash my infant's bottles in the bathtub. I also get other people's back ups as I am on the ground floor (ugh). I have reported this to the proper agencies but nothing has happened other than a violation was issused to the absentee landlady. This building has seen it's share of problems as it is the site of a very infamous crime scene. I did not know this when I took the apt, but when the vigils were held outside my window on the anniversary of this tragedy...I kind of figured it out. If anyone can help me with just some valid information as how to get an apt I would be very grateful.
