All our cats/dogs/rabbits are in NYC unless otherwise noted. Many of us will be at Petco E86/Lex on Sundays 12.30-5!* Please come! We are always looking for vols/fosters and especially Purrmanent homes:) We do out of state adoptions if you can come and get the pet and if we can gain assurance of thehome through a visit or other means. In the NYC area we generally deliver at the time of adoption.Houdini is a young adult male New Zealand mix with helicopter ears and a thick, soft coat. Like a few other bunnies we¹ve seen, this good-looking guy arrived at the shelter terrified and mad at the world. His bite-first-and-ask-questions-later attitude had him lunging at every hand that entered his space, even to feed him. We found it impossible to reassure him or even to pet him, he was so defensive. After many weeks in foster care, Houdini has improved dramatically. He's almost unrecognizable from the frightened, angry rabbit we first saw, and he continues to improve. Cheerful, curious and active, he needs lots of free-range time in which to burn off his boundless energy and to satisfy his inquisitive nature. Although he enjoys having his head and cheeks rubbed, he still startles easily, especially from sudden unexpected touches, so he would not be suitable for a household with children. He also probably isn't ready to live with other pets yet, though he may accept a partner bunny at some point in the future. Houdini has been neutered and litter-box trained. Bonded pairs of bunnies cannot be split up!If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us cats@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to Petco or other weekend event. Our weekend locations are: Sunday Petco E86th/Lex 12.30-5, some Saturdays at the same Petco same hours, and alternating Saturdays at Petstop on Columbus between W87/88th 12-5pm. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered.
