Description Under direction, performs charge entry and insurance verification activities in the Department of Surgery: verifies Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payors; identifies physicians participation in various managed care and other insurance plans; creates or verifies referrals; corrects TES Edits that appear during charge entry; prepares IDX Missing Charge report; reviews reports and contacts physicians regarding missed billings and follows up on outstanding missing charges; receives and posts payments; identifies patients with outstanding balances and co-pays; performs other job related duties as required.
High school diploma or GED and two years related work experience required; must have knowledge of third party insurance billing policies and procedures and previous billing experience; proficient in hospital systems; knowledge of CPT coding and ICD 9 coding required; previous coding experience highly desired; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; excellent communication and organization skills.
