POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York invites applications for a position as Professor of Sociology to begin September 2010. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least one methods course each semester, as well as to contribute to the Department's courses in social theory. We are seeking candidates whose research and teaching interests can speak to, and make use of, Brooklyn's uniquely rich and vibrant social context. The Department of Sociology seeks to expand its ongoing collaboration with the Center for the Study of Brooklyn, which focuses on urban policy research. We are seeking candidates who are committed to undergraduate and graduate education at a public, urban institution that serves a highly diverse student body. Letters of application should specify how the candidate's research and teaching interests can speak to and make use of Brooklyn's uniquely rich and vibrant social context.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

A Ph.D. in Sociology is required. We are seeking candidates with a specialization in the area of sustainability. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach courses in both quantitative and qualitative methods at the undergraduate and graduate level:
