POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

The Basic Educational Skills Department is seeking an experienced instructor to join its faculty and teach writing classes. For more information please access the Departmental Webpage: http://www.qcc.cuny.edu/BasicSkills/


Duties:

Teach Basic Writing for native speakers. Active participation in department affairs, including curriculum development, will be expected. Provide academic advisement and assistance for students during the semester and as part of the registration process. Participate in college-wide activities related to educational issues and pedagogical practices; continued scholarly activities required for tenure and promotion. Some evening and weekend teaching may be required.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in appropriate field and active progress toward an appropriate Doctorate required for Instructor title. Doctorate required for Assistant Professor title. At least two years of demonstrated expertise in the teaching of writing skills to secondary and/or post-secondary students required. Experience in curriculum and faculty development desirable; familiarity with current pedagogical trends and approaches in instructional technology. Some background and experience working with ESL students desirable.
