Chow Chow - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog - Star
Description
A couple came to us with Star on a leash and harness on an ugly Saturday. The people claimed to have "found" her, but that can't be true. Star looked like the saddest creature on earth when she came through our doors. Of course, we took her in because we did not want her to end up on the streets byherself.Star is about 1 year old. She is a female, Chow Chow mix. She certainly does have the purple tongue and squished-in face of a Chow, but not the large size. She may be mixed with another breed of small dog. She is all black.Star has pyometra. That is most likely the reason the people surrendered her to us. Pyometra is when the uterus of a female animal begins to fill up with pus. If she does not get surgery immediately, her uterus will explode. She will receive her surgery very soon. If you could perhaps make a donation towards her surgery, Star and us thank you very much. So you hang in there, star shine! (Please see updates below!)She walks very slowly on the leash, but right next to you.Star is very tolerant of people petting her, which is quite unusual for a Chow Chow. She is quite friendly for her breed!Star prefers to be the only dog at home.Star is spayed, is not microchipped, but is up to date with her shots. If you wish to save Star's life like we have, please do fill out an application! She is waiting for you...Update: Our deduction was correct- Star was definitely a house pet who was surrendered cruelly without a claim to her name by her owners. Her full name is actually, "Star Dust Soto" (We had no idea she was actually 'Star'!). The owners surrendered Star to us, knowing that she was ill and in need of treatment, but could not afford the treatment. They also had a housing issue which did not allow Star to stay at their home any longer. All this was not revealed upon her surrender to our center though... Born on October 20, 2003, she is actually a pure bred, 6 year old, Chow Chow. She was raised from 3 months old, and along with children. That would explain why Star is so people friendly & tolerant. She is housebroken.Star "loved going camping in the Poconos with the family. She just does not do too well in the car. She gets car sick in long rides". On October 1, 2009, Star received her surgeries. She had pyometra, a urinary infection, and a kidney infection for two whole months before she came to us! The surgeries in total was definitely a lot more than we could have imagined & afford... She is now doing well and is definitely ready for a new caring home.
