Chingey was saved the day he was scheduled for euthanasia at the kill shelter and we placed him in boarding awaiting a home. He is a 1-year old Labrador Retriever and American Staffordshire Terrier mix puppy that weights 48 lbs. Chingey is still a pup, just around one year old. And like the puppy he is, Chingey is full of energy. He wants to be taken out of his cage ... to go outdoors and play. He will need puppy training; someone did not care for him well: he is a bit malnourished and although he is very sweet with people, it seems the humans he has around him failed him somehow: he is protective of his food (but he is so young he can be taught better) and he barks at (some) other dogs--they never socialized him: a dog his tender age, usually is instinctually very happy to go play with other dogs; Chingey will need some help to re-balance in these departments, but we saw the amazing potential and how well he listens and how curious he is, as if asking "Really? I should not do that? just sit and be quiet and still now??... OK." Chingey is recommended for a dog experienced home that will love him, but also have enough previous experience with dogs to show Chingey how to move from puppyhood to a well balanced adult dog.
