Rottweiler - Large - Adult - Female - Dog - Mia
Description
In January of 2009, two Underdog ResQ evaluators wandered a crowded large NY municipal shelter in search of their new foster dog. What appeared to be a Rottweiler tugged at their heart strings. We say that she looked like a Rotti because of her petite and skeletal structure. At 45 pounds, this Rotti was weak and pathetic but still sweet as pie. In addition to her skinny and unbalanced body, Mia had growths on her body, torn pads and teeth that belonged on a 20 year old dog. At that time, Mia knew nothing. She wasnt housebroken and she didnt seem to know how to play or be a house pet. Now, weighing in at 80 pounds, Mia is a different dog. She is housebroken and knows many commands (sit, down, come, stay, wait, back it up, no, go to bed and bedtime). She is an extremely quick learner and is really easy to train! She is crate trained but has recently earned a crate-less lifestyle in her foster home. She is the most loyal and eager-to-please foster dog that her foster parents have enjoyed (and they have fostered over 40 dogs!). Mia is extremely playful but not in your face about it. She will gladly play when you want to play. She loves attention and accepts a rub down, a pat of the head, a massage or a belly rub anytime of the day and she will accept it as if its the last time she will ever be pet. But again, she is not that in your face about it. She is the type of dog that is easy to forget about because she is so quiet and patient. Although Mia lived well with a foster pit brother for her first 9 months with Underdog, she doesnt seem to miss his presence after his adoption. Actually, her foster parents think that Mia is a better dog as a single dog. A natural guardian because of her breed, Mia will let you know when someone is at the door but she gladly welcomes people she knows. She does well meeting new friendly people too. She gets along with young kids and can go to a home with older kids, if any. Health-wise, Mia is doing great! She is a healthy weight, had a major dental, had her growths removed and checked out and shes doing well all around. All in all, Mia is a joy to have around. She is a great combination of sweet, playful and most of all obedient and eager to please her masters. Complete Underdog ResQs adoption application today on www.underdogresq.org.
