Brook was found in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn tired, pregnant, dirty and all alone. Trapped as part of a routine Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project, it was soon realized Brook was no feral cat desperate to return to her home colony after being spayed. Instead, she was an abandoned stray who was down on her luck and searching for a good soul to take her inside. Brook is a sweet, quiet and funny cat who loves to eat, nap, play and roll around. She often will lay on her back, her eyes pleading for a nice tummy rub. Her favorite thing in the world is her kitty bed (she is so strongly attached to it we may need to send it with her!). Once someone forgot to return the bed to her cage and she sat mewing softly and pawing at people walking past to get their attention so she could have it back! Unfortunately for Brook, and people who have multiple cats, Brook has tested positive for the feline leukemia (FELV) virus (she is negative for FIV) so she requires a home with A) no other cats, B) only cats who are also positive for FELV, or C) the ability to keep cats separated from one another (a large house or other type of building would work nicely!). The truth is, many positive cats live for years with no symptoms of their health condition. When FIV- and FELV-positive cats receive nutritious food, good veterinary care, and love, the sky is truly the limit on what the future holds. Brook is approximately 1 to 2 years of age, black and white domestic shorthair. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, and treated for other parasites. She is beyond ready for her new life. Please be a hero for Brook and invite her into your family!
